French designer Emanuel Ungaro built a successful fashion house through artistry and creativity. The son of a tailor, Ungaro benefited from his father’s expertise and advice. Moving to Paris in early adulthood, the budding designer worked under Cristobal Balenciaga, an early master of haute couture. From Balenciaga, Ungaro learned that a designer must be a philosopher to truly design masterpieces.

Menswear, dresses and fragrances became Ungaro’s specialties. His clothing and fragrances bear the mark of a designer concerned little with the business of fashion. Never straying into the realm of the eccentric nor following the pack, Emanuel Ungaro relies on his natural artistic abilities to craft masterworks.
