Kylie Minogue began her career in the shadow of her younger sister, actress Dannii. But in 1986, the future superstar got a regular role on the Australian soap opera Neighbours, and became a sensation. The popularity of her on-screen romance with real-life boyfriend Jason Donovan, led Kylie to her second career as a singer.

Her first single, Locomotion, was released in 1987, and became the highest-selling Australian single of the 80s. As a result, she joined the British songwriting team 'Stock, Aitken & Waterman', and her career blossomed. Eight successful albums have followed, including three #1s.

Kylie's musical career has a second burst of super-popularity in 2001 when she released the album Fever. Including three #1 singles, the album put Minogue on top again, but this success was soon followed by tragedy when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. As of 2006, Kylie has recovered and is recording again.
